Catholic Schools Week
National Catholic Schools Week
Since 1923, St. Joseph School in Chehalis has been a faith based education to children pre-school through eighth grade with an emphasis on developing responsible, caring, productive citizens and life-long learners. Students are taught and encouraged to live lives of service. Students are expected to become community leaders and to excel in their studies.
As a part of Nation Catholic Schools Week, teachers are hosting an open house on Sunday, January 30th, 2011, from 11:30a.m. to 1:00p.m. at the school located at 123 SW Sixth Street in Chehalis.
St. Joseph School is accredited by the Northwest Accreditation Commission which is one way of ensuring that the school meets state educational standards, has an improvement plan, and is engaged in an on-going self-study and evaluation process. St. Josephs School provides quality instruction with more individualized instruction because of small class sizes in a safe environment. Students consistently score above the national norms on standardized test such as the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. For instance, the eighth grade class scored at the 88th percentile, well above the national norm at the 50th percentile, and their grade equivalent average was 13+ for the first year of college.
